WHY PRINTS?
Prints and bright colours are prevalent throughout the African continent, and they often carry messages which are used as a vehicle of dialogue. Whilst Dutch wax fabrics are worn throughout Africa and have become popular within African fashion, prints have existed on the continent amongst the many different people groups, long before the introduction of Dutch wax fabrics.
AFRIEK’S collections celebrate prints and their prevalence in Africa, as they reflect the dynamism and energy of the continent. More importantly, our prints are a visualisation of the intercontinental dialogue we want to have. Since 2020, the brand has evolved to produce its own organic fabrics with unique prints designed through conversations between artists from Rwandan and the Netherlands.
And let’s be honest, the rest of the world could use a bit more colour.
